The Match’In project was scientifically monitored throughout the entire duration of the project. The results of this accompanying research have now been published in a policy paper.

The accompanying research focused on evaluating the implementation of the procedure in the participating federal states and municipalities as well as on a technology impact assessment, which analyzed what the use of a digital tool means for the assignment of asylum seekers.

Among other things, the key findings were

  • that municipalities actually ‘match’ differently with different people,
  • that Match’In can be used in the regular allocation procedure of the federal states and
  • that the procedure enjoys broad acceptance among the stakeholders involved.

The results can be read in detail in the policy paper published on 8 April 2025 on the website of the Stiftung Mercator: Link (in German only).
