Workshop of the Match’In project team at the Minister of State’s Dialogue on the Future

How can municipalities be made crisis-proof for current and future tasks in integration policy? This overarching question was the topic of the "Future Dialogue: Local Immigration Society - Shaping Crisis-proof Integration and Participation" on February 19 and 20, 2024 in Mainz.

At this regional conference, Minister of State Reem Alabali-Radovan brought together over 200 representatives from local authorities, federal states and civil society from the five federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland to discuss how integration and participation can be made crisis-proof – so that they are reliable structurally.

The project team was represented with one of the three workshops on the first day and presented the project together with two practice partners from the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry for Family Affairs, Women, Culture and Integration and the district of Birkenfeld, a pilot municipality. In the subsequent discussion, it served as a practical example of how the role of municipalites as active creators of local immigration society can be strengthened structurally.
